Publicity pays..

Decades ago movie reaches public by means of cycle rikshaw with mike, pamphlets, wall posters, movie lyric books and trailer of coming attraction during intermission in Cinema Theatres.

Black and white days movie maker used to promote another movie with the same ticket. That means a movie buff able to watch two movies with one movie cost.

Promotional programmes on Radio and TV is an evergreen practice.

With the advent of technology, present generation movie goers able to get movie updates on their finger tips.

Movie makers promoting their products through Social Media like Face book, Twitter, Insta gram and also Whatsapp.

They are launching the youtube channel of their movie on the very first day of its shooting.

Fading realities

Most of the biopic movie makers try to misuse creative liberty and bury the bitter realities under the box office statistics.

They lest bothered about true spirit of the character.

If there is no historical evidence about a particular character, they even adopt violent attitude to a peace maker.

They also impose present socio-economic conditions to the generations together old character.

If the movie makers suspicious about original behaviour and attitude of the character on the box office prospectus, they will roll reverse it.

Property dominates

The significane of set property in movies came into existence with Steven Spielbergs ‘Schindler’s List’, where type writer to ink pen reflects the war time.

Indian directors like Priyadarsan took a cue from Steven and made movies like ‘Kaalapani’ based on the plights of Indian freedom fighters in a cellular jail at Port Blair.

Art directors dominated the technicians in other crafts of the movie making. Characters cornered in the frame and set properties like tables, chairs, portraits, pocket combs, thick black coloured table top telephones with a big dial occupied the centre stage.

‘Kaalapani’ released more than two decades back, but still set property rules the roost.

Sketches please..

It is not an easy task to satisfy the camera when you are taking a movie on Old golden days.

Though we are celebrating almost silver jubilee of Internet, most of the movie makers are not in a position to believe the information and images available on it.

They spend months together in some cases years together in search of genuine material which gives authenticity as well as authority on the subject.

Apart from story book, sketches play vital role in executing a movie on silver screen.

Sketches consists of rough images of characters, their attire and miniature images of monuments and buildings with perfect scale.

This is an age old practice, but generation-z also follows it.

Though there is no possibility of wastage of raw film, digital film sorry.. digital movie makers also follow the same suit in pursuit of perfection.

Imitation or Inspiration

Now we are living in the era of biopics and films based on popular persons.

The above image is a video grab of ‘Iddaru’ (Iruvar in Tamil) movie.

Almost a two decades back movie.

Prakash Raj is trying to dig out something from Mohanlals face. He is also in search of character’s skin and blood.

The movie hit the silver screen based on the life of two popular persons. When you are wearing somebody’s shoes it is very difficult to walk.

Film Actors has to face the same situation at the time of portraying famous persons characters.

They start with inspiration but finally ended with imitation. The movie buffs also voted to imitation.

Really It's Funny

Warangal Collector Amarlapali's off the record comment 'It's funny' at Republic day function created conterversial storm. Everybody especially media critcised her behaviour when One of the biggest democratic countries in the world celebrating its national festival. But unfortunately contrary to others, I dont find anything wrong from herside.

Let me explian in detial what happened in 24 hours when we are immersed in neck deep patriotic fervour. When Mr. Ramnath Kovind our beloved Indian President called for 'Civic Minded Society' in his first ever Republic day speech media least bothered about it, and the speech published in somewhere with less importance. Unfortunately South India's highest circulated English News Paper hesitate to spare a single coloumn for India's First Citizen speech. Now I realised why the Collector said its funny when she is reading mere statistics that only appeared on papers, infact practically not implemented.

Most of us are least bothered about civic sense in our day to day activities. From travelling on roads to forcing our ideology on others with our preaches. So we feel strange when our President talks about civic minded society. At this juncture who is going to bother about national festivals, When numaish is crowded with hyderabadis, The Republic day Parade celebrations at Parade grounds celebrated grandly without common man's presence. The Chief Minister of AP who had hectic schedule at Davos World Economic Form, excused himself to attend Republic day Function in his own party ruled state putting blame on Flight delay.

Most of us feel national festivals comes with holidays. When they comes on friday or Monday, we plan a picnic or long trip to avoid last minute travelling inconvinience and book the tickets in advance. I will site a rude road accident claims six lives in Maharastra because of this attitude. It happened in Maharatra on Republic day when three IT professionals took a picnic ride with their families, where their car hit the tree. Its an unfortunate incident when entire nation is in celebration mood.

As Collector Amarapali said, We have introspect ourselves how we are making national festivals funny with our thought, action and behaviour. Our children follows tomorrow what we are going today. Add a real pinch of patritosm towards our Country when it is celebrating Independence, Republic only twice in a year.
